Breaking Barriers and Building Momentum
Speaker: Nicole Sherry, Senior Director, Field Operations, Baltimore Orioles

What does it take to break barriers and build momentum when you're the “only” or the “first”? In this inspiring session, Nicole Sherry, one of just two female head groundskeepers in Major League Baseball history, shares her personal journey to the top of a male-dominated field. Through powerful storytelling, she’ll explore lessons in leadership, perseverance, and teamwork — and how staying true to yourself can lead to real respect and impact. Walk away with practical insights on how to lead with confidence, build strong teams, and inspire momentum in your own career.

Nicole Sherry is in her third season as senior director of field operations for the Orioles, a role she assumed in 2023 after two years as director and 14 seasons as head groundskeeper. She first joined the Orioles in 2001, returning in 2006 after a stint with the Trenton Thunder, where she became the first female head groundskeeper in Eastern League history. One of only two women to have served as head groundskeepers in MLB, she’s been recognized with multiple honors, including the 2016 Mary Pickersgill Award and the 2019 Dick Ericson Founders’ Award. A University of Delaware grad, she lives in Eldersburg, Md., with her son, Tyson.
