Director of Member Engagement & Experience

The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a relationship-focused professional to lead member engagement, retention, and onboarding efforts. This position serves as a key ambassador for the Chamber, ensuring members receive exceptional value from their investment while fostering strong connections throughout the business community.

The Director of Member Engagement & Experience is primarily responsible for designing and implementing broad goals for membership growth and retention, aligned with the objectives of the organization as set forth in the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce strategic plan.

The Director of Member Engagement & Experience will manage the member experience from onboarding through renewal, develop retention strategies, coordinate member benefits, and serve as a primary resource for member inquiries and support. This role works closely with Chamber leadership, staff, volunteers, and members to strengthen relationships, increase participation, and support membership growth.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead member onboarding, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Chamber members and prospective members.
  • Participate in membership recruitment efforts and prospect meetings
  • Serve as the principal host of member ribbon-cutting and anniversary events.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase member participation, satisfaction, and renewal rates.
  • Manage the Chamber Ambassador Program.
  • Report on the overall membership program at bi-monthly Board and monthly Executive Committee meetings.
  • Coordinate member engagement programs including New Member Roundtables.
  • Conduct the program portion of all Chamber networking events
  • Attend Chamber events and actively engage members and community partners.
  • Oversee membership renewal communications and retention outreach.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and engagement tracking within the Chamber CRM.
  • Respond to member inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate with Chamber staff to enhance member value and support organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, customer success, account management, membership development, or a related field.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Experience developing strategies that improve customer or member retention.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable with public speaking engagements.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Google Workspace, MS Office Suite and other business software.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the President & CEO.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range $70,000 – $88,000 per year
