FREDERICK COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
With one of the largest chamber memberships in the state of Maryland made up of a diverse mixture of business entities, we are always eager to find creative ways to meet the individual needs of our members more effectively. From nonprofit organizations to large corporations and government agencies, our members represent all business sectors in the county. One thing many of our members have in common, however, is their designation as small businesses with under 50 employees--90% of our current members are classified as such. It is with them in mind that we are excited to announce our new partnership with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
To give our small business members the added benefit of being members of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, we’ve joined the Maryland Chamber Federation. This partnership among the MD Chamber and 14 county and regional chambers, including The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, allows that any business with 10 or fewer full time employees, who is a member of a participating local chamber, will receive FREE Federation membership into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
Some inwardly cringe when they hear the word, instantly running through the list of excuses they can utilize to get out of participating on that day--a bad case of influenza, long lost aunt on her deathbed, a last minute meeting scheduled suddenly from a needy client--anything considered better than being locked in a room with the people they work with.
But, it doesn’t have to be that way!
Team members who dread team building are likely victims of team building gone wrong. They’ve experienced the one-off, silly, trust fall based events that are haphazardly scheduled by a leader who doesn’t know much about building a team.
When done right, team building is successful when it is born from an office culture that understands and supports the idea that a bonded team is generally a more productive and effective team. It is a culture that often involves open doors, daily opportunities and encouragement to collaborate, respectful communication, a shared passion for creating a positive work environment around a product you all believe in, one where diversity of ideas is both respected and encouraged.
It is under these circumstances that an organized team building event is less likely to be met with eye rolls and twisted lips. Teams that understand the expectation of collaboration and positive interaction are more likely to embrace your planned picnics and trips to escape rooms. And, just like with anything, if you want to achieve the desired results, those tasked with participating need to be all in.
At the end of the day, well done, interactive, inclusive team building events are able to help with the bonding process of a team. And, studies have proven that a bonded team tends to be a more productive team, a more motivated team, and one that is able to collaborate and communicate more effectively.
Sounds like a winning formula to us.
Think your team could use a little building?
Here are a few local businesses that specialize in just that.
Led by the husband and wife team, Lisa Ortiz and Chris Hinchman, Spring Ridge Chiropractic offers chiropractic care in their Spring Ridge location in Frederick.
With over 35 years of chiropractic experience between them, the pair is passionate about helping their patients live a healthy lifestyle through consistent chiropractic care.
Ortiz and Hinchman see chiropractic care as one part of a wellness journey with the goal being overall health and well being through maintenance and consistent care, but they note that many patients are still motivated by pain to seek out their services, “We wish people knew that you shouldn't wait until you're in pain or have permanent damage to start seeing a chiropractor. It does not take much time or money to receive preventative chiropractic care to extend your comfort and mobility much later on in life.”
Caring for your spine should start early in life and continue throughout, similar to general medical care. Those who are diligent about their chiropractic care experience several benefits including, but not limited to, headache and stress relief, chronic pain relief, lower anxiety, greater mobility, and more.
In the spirit of goal setting for the new year, we have a few of our own to share and every single one of them is about YOU!
In 2018, we sent out a member survey to assess our effectiveness and learn more about what your expectations of us as your county chamber of commerce.
We aren’t the kind of people that like to send out surveys just to be sending out surveys. We’re the kind of people who like to send out surveys so we can figure out what we’re doing well, what we need to be better at, and what we should do about it.
Basically, we listen.
Here’s what we heard you say:
We know everyone has different priorities—things they want or need to support their personal business goals, but we also know that we want to offer support, education, training, events, and growth opportunities to as many of our members as possible.
So we’re working on it.
We’re designing new programs, planning different events, and ramping up our social media and content production to allow you to stay informed, and feel supported in ways you may not have in the past.
Here’s what you can expect from us in 2019:
Troyce Gatewood & Partners is a well-known name in and around Frederick County. Led by real estate powerhouse Troyce Gatewood, under the RE/MAX Results brokerage, Troyce has celebrated several honors in the real estate space to date. In just the past two years Troyce has been named 2018 Best of the Best Real Estate Agent by Frederick News Post, ReMax Plus #1 Top Producing Real Estate Agent, ReMax Platinum Club Award, ReMax Chairman’s Club Award, and ReMax Hall of Fame, to name a few, and they show no signs of slowing down.
Troyce works with the RE/MAX Results brokerage helping her clients sell their homes in record time—on average, in 14 days or less--with the support of an experienced team of buyer’s agents, and an expert group of real estate professionals, including a home stager, marketing manager, sales management team, and her husband, Joe, who serves as the team's business development and strategic planning manager while also operating a mortgage brokerage.
As one of the most successful real estate teams in the county, Troyce Gatewood & Partners has been on an upward swing in recent years, now consistently completing over 100 real estate transactions a year—a number they are already on target to surpass in 2019.
Joe credits the hiring of a business coach a few years ago as the turning point in their careers. It was then that the two decided to get serious about working together to build Troyce Gatewood & Partners into a formidable member of the real estate industry in and around Frederick County. They laid out their goals, developed an action plan, and have been ticking things off ever since.
We sat down with Joe and Troyce recently to discuss why they love being a part of the Frederick County business community, how they’ve found such success here, and what we can expect from the real estate market in 2019.
