Free Community Shred Day
Keeping your personal information secure is a key part of protecting your identity and financial wellbeing. That’s why shredding documents with sensitive information is important. Join Frederick County Bank on Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 9:00 am to noon for a free community shred day at our Crestwood Blvd location. Bring up to 3 boxes of documents like old bank and credit card statements, previous tax forms, medical records, and more to shred. Our free community Shred Day is a great way to get a jump on spring cleaning, wrap up tax season, and protect your identity. And if you feel like lending a hand - we'll be collecting hygiene items for a Frederick nonprofit.

Blessings of the Badges Ceremony
Join Hospice of Frederick County for a special Blessing of the Badges Ceremony to honor first responders for their dedication to our community. Public Safety Leaders will speak to honor these men and women for their service. First Responders' personnel are invited to have their badges blessed for safety and well-being.

Family Workshop: Create a Seed Starter
Get a garden started with our egg carton seed starter workshop! This short beginner's gardening workshop will teach you the basics of starting a seed and how to care for it! Perfect for little hands and first time gardeners. Our family workshops are held open-house style. This craft takes about half an hour to complete, so feel free to stop by any time during the session. Adequate supervision of children is required.

Poulenc Trio Concert
Phyllis and Ardine Gorden Concert with The Poulenc Trio The Poulenc Trio has been called the most active touring piano-wind chamber music ensemble in the world. Since its founding in 2003, the Trio has performed in 45 U.S. states and at music festivals around the world, including the Ravello Festival in Italy, the San Miguel de Allende Festival in Mexico, and the White Nights Festival in Russia, where the group toured with and premiered two new works with violinist Hilary Hahn. The Trio’s latest CD, “Creation,” reached No. 4 on the iTunes Classical Music playlist and garnered high praise from the American Record Guide for the group’s technique and expressive range.

Speaker: Sara Taskler
Sara Taksler will speak about the making of “Tickling Giants,” in which she documents the life of Dr. Bassem Youssef, the “Egyptian Jon Stewart.” In the midst of the Arab Spring, Bassem makes a decision that’s every mother’s worst nightmare—he leaves his job as a heart surgeon to become a full-time comedian. In a country where free expression is not settled law, Bassem endures physical threats, protests and legal action all because of satire. Bassem finds creative, non-violent ways to protect free speech and fight a president who abuses his power.

Entrepreneur Council Brown Bag Lunch & Learn: Change Your Attitude, Change Your Life

Annual Public Safety Awards Breakfast
The Annual Public Safety Awards honor the Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue and Emergency Service professionals protecting Frederick County.
Each year we celebrate Frederick County’s bravest men and women, those who place service before self. These local heroes make sacrifices that keep our businesses, homes and our families safe.

Amy Gottfried and Robert Eversz will give readings from fiction writing. Gottfried, Ph.D., is a professor of American literature and creative writing at Hood College. She has published short fiction in Glimmer Train; Blunderbuss; The Adirondack Review; Passager; and Brain, Teen. She’s currently revising her second novel, “The Hollow Road,” and completing a third, “After the Viper’s Lounge.” Eversz is the author of six novels that have been translated into 15 languages. He earned a Master of Fine Arts from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television and continues to study and teach film in addition to writing fiction and nonfiction. He has published several award-winning novels including “Shooting Elvis,” named best crime novel of the year in Oslo’s leading daily paper, Aftenposten; and “Killing Paparazzi,” which was named among the best books of 2002 by the Washington Post Book World.

Cotton Cyber Lecture Series
Hector Monsegur is the director of assessment services at Rhino Security Labs with large corporations and governments as his clients. He will give a talk titled "Perspectives of an Adversary: My Journey from the Streets to the Cybersecurity Industry." Monsegur is the de facto head of Anonymous, who — by himself — breached the cybersecurity systems of major corporations and governments around the globe. The security firms that were responsible for protecting News Corp, PayPal, VISA, Mastercard, Nintendo, PBS and many government contractors all were successfully hacked by him.

All you can eat Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to support the subsidy program at Daybreak Adult Day Services, Frederick County's only medical day care program serving seniors with age related physical and cognitive challenges. Dinner includes spaghetti with meat or plain sauce (or just butter), salad, garlic bread, and ice cream. Pay at the door. Tickets are $12/adults, $10/seniors 65+, $8/children (3-10), Free under 3. Take out add $1.00 per plate. A great meal for a great cause!
