RECAPPING S.H.E. WEEK 2022

August 22-26, 2022 sparked and ignited female minds, careers, and lives in Frederick County. The fourth annual S.H.E. Week materialized with a fully in-person conference for the first time since it's inception in 2019. Through numerous community partnerships, countless volunteers, 38 sponsors, and over 200 participants, S.H.E. Week's goal was to unpack the power and potential of women and it did just that. 

S.H.E. Week 2022 kicked off with a Conference Day held at the Arc at Market Street. Attendees experienced an inspirational keynote from international speaker, Melanie Spring. A panel featuring Stacey Krantz (InBloom Jewelry), Cameron Nutting Williams (Ogden Newspapers), Tiana Hale (FCPS), and moderated by Jess El-eftawy (FCPL) encouraged attendees to think about "If it's not a hell yes, it's a no!" in their everyday life. Carol deLaski (deLaski Coaching) took each session from spark to strategy and gave attendees tangible takeaways. And the day capped off with a Conversation with President Dr. Annesa Cheek (FCC) interviewed by Whitney Hahn.

We saw the return of two inspiring additions to the week, S.H.E. Pitch and the SHERO Awards. 

The SHERO Awards were established to celebrate and shine a light on 
individuals who are making an impact by triumphing over adversity, demonstrating extraordinary care for others or leading change in our community.

S.H.E. Pitch is a pitch competition for female entrepreneurs designed to give businesses both in the “idea stage” and “growth stage” cash prizes, publicity and networking opportunities. This year, we awarded over $12,500 in prize money. Additional prizes included a video package from 88Visual for the Growth Stage and Idea Stage winners and Magazine Advertising from SASS Magazine for the Growth Stage winner. PNC Bank also awarded each of the seven finalists with specific business growth support.
